A Letter from PFP Participant Craig Snook

Gratitude Back to You!

Congratulations to Power for Parkinson’s on your very successful end of the year fundraiser. It will continue to support much of the good work being done as well as grow their impact throughout much of 2025.  As there were a large number of contributors and many new ones, it shows those of us participating that we see the value it brings to the global community.

A Vision of What Could Be

It started with the lived of experiences of the cofounders Nina and Susan. They experienced the difficult impact Parkinson’s can have on family members.  They identified a weakness in the health system for those with Parkinson’s motor symptoms.  The gap was when patients finished with physical therapy, they reverted to a more sedentary lifestyle without exercise.  This gap was the motivation for starting the nonprofit – provide opportunities to exerciser and support others both locally and globally.

It's more than an exercise class though, as Nina and Susan with their backgrounds and growing knowledge realized the importance of frequent and targeted exercise to slow or even reverse the effects of Parkinson’s. Although it targets motor symptoms, it’s clear that it may reduce nonmotor symptoms like stress, sleep issues, etc.

The rest is history. Thanks for taking a chance and having a vision of what could be.

People as the Secret to Success

Power for Parkinson’s is not just an organization with walls around it.  It’s the trainers, the staff, the Board, the volunteers, and care givers that go beyond what they are expected to do because they also witness the benefits achieved. They show compassion and understanding that elevates HOPE for all of us. You inspire us!

Brain Health and Exercise

We focus on Parkinson’s disease but there are many brain health challenges and diseases that are increasing around the world. Dr. Richard Isaacson, a leader in Alzheimer’s prevention, at the Brain Mind Alzheimer’s summit said: Physical Exercise is the number one thing you can do today to prevent Alzheimer’s Disease!”

There are many reasons why we all need to increase our exercise and improve our diet for better brain health.

Gratitude Back to You!

We are grateful for those many people who work hard to make Power for Parkinson’s a success every day.. As Michael J. Fox says: ”If you have something to be grateful for, you have something to look forward to and you carry on.” Let’s carry on!

Ask yourself the question:” What is my quality of life and does Power for Parkinson’s make it better?”  I hope for you as it is for me it’s a resounding yes in pushing back the Parkinson’s beast.

Thank you, Power for Parkinson’s! We are grateful for all that you do!

On behalf of those fighting the good fight!
